The Convention originally scheduled for April is now being held VIRTUALLY on Saturday, June 13. The purpose of the State Convention is top elect delegates to the National Convention as well as a National Committeeman and Committeewoman. Please see details below regrading the June 13 State Convention. If you are a deluge and have any questions please contact us at 616-459-0141.

Congressional District Caucuses will occur also. These caucuses will be held separately and in a different manner than the June 13 State Convention. Please be on the lookout for details for this.

Message from MRP Regarding the June 13 Convention Process

With health guidelines for June still unknown, we must move forward and elect our delegates per RNC rules so we can turn our focus to re-electing President Trump and Republicans up and down the ballot.

The following is a brief outline of how our virtual convention will operate.

First and most importantly, MIGOP will need your contact information, including name, mailing address, email, and phone number. If a delegate or alternate's contact information is incorrect or not listed in our records, they will not be able to vote.

Please click this link to submit your contact information

To preserve ballot security, all delegates will be mailed a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) to their home address with instructions that outline how to vote via text message. This precaution will allow you to vote on your smartphone when polls open on June 13. If you do not have asmartphone or text messaging capabilities, please indicate that on your information form and a member of my staff will reach out to you directly.

There will be a live broadcast of the convention from the Lansing Center beginning at 9 am. For transparency, I have invited all 28 members of the rules committee (2 members of each district) to attend the live broadcast.

The link to view the broadcast will be emailed to all delegates and alternates before convention day. You will need to enter the PIN code that was previously mailed to you to view the convention broadcast.

From 9 am-2 pm, delegates will be able to vote on the following:

  • Approval of the At-Large Delegates
  • National Committeeman
  • National Committeewoman

Voting will close promptly at 2 pm and will not be extended. We will provide a customer service phone number and email for all questions and concerns.

Between 2-4 pm, my staff will audit the names of those who did not vote and contact alternates via text message, email, and phone to inform them that they have been elevated to delegate, in the order that was previously submitted to MRP by the District Chairs.

Alternates, please remain close to your phone throughout the day to answer any incoming calls, as you may receive crucial information about your elevation status during this time. These calls or texts may come from unfamiliar area codes.

Between 4-7 pm, voting will reopen, ONLY for the newly elevated alternates.

Alternate voting will close promptly at 7 pm and will not be extended. When the results become available, they will be broadcast live on the MIGOP's social media platforms and will also be sent to all participants via email.

The MIGOP staff will host several zoom training webinars to educate delegates on how to utilize our virtual voting system leading up to the day of the convention. Please look for email updates from the "MIGOP Virtual State Convention" with those details.
