Dr. Larry P. Arnn is the twelfth president of Hillsdale College and a professor of politics and history. He earned his B.A. from Arkansas State University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Government from Claremont Graduate School. He previously served as director of research for Sir Martin Gilbert, the official biographer of Winston Churchill, and as president of the Claremont Institute from 1985 to 2000.

In 1996, Dr. Arnn chaired the California Civil Rights Initiative, which ended racial preferences in state hiring, contracting, and admissions. He later served as chairman of President Donald Trump’s 1776 Commission and has received numerous honors, including the Bradley Prize, the Edmund Burke Award, the Heartland Liberty Prize, and The Heritage Foundation’s Great American Award.

A widely published scholar and commentator, Dr. Arnn is the author of several books, including The Founders’ Key and Churchill’s Trial. He and his wife, Penelope, have four children and two grandchildren.
