A Resolution by the Kent County Republican Committee
Demanding that Current Immigration Laws be Strictly Enforced  to halt the Unchecked Invasion at our Borders

WHEREAS, we are tired of headlines such as: Grand Rapids, Mich. — ‘A man who illegally entered the United States from Mexico admitted to detectives that he shot a Grand Rapids woman multiple times during an argument, including one shot to the head.’ UpNorthLive News 03/27/2024; and,

WHEREAS, according to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the alleged assailant was a citizen of Mexico living illegally in the US and was deported to Mexico in the fall 2020 (MLive.com 03/29/2024) under President Donald J Trump and returned to the US under President Joseph R Biden; and,

WHEREAS, the Democrats, led by President Joseph R Biden, are destroying the American way of life with intentionally allowing anyone, including criminals and terrorists,  to enter our country unchecked or vetted; and,

WHEREAS, there are more than twelve million aliens in our country illegally, and many are causing chaos by:

  1. making the homeless problem much worse,
  2. using resources that should be used by American Citizens, such as our K-12 education,
  3. breaking laws of our states and nation,
  4. making it more difficult for Americans to live; and,

WHEREAS, the Center for Immigration Studies lists four Michigan jurisdictions, (Ingham County, Wayne County, Kalamazoo County, and the City of Lansing) as being ‘sanctuary’ (where the law is intentionally not enforced); and,

WHEREAS, without an enforceable border we cannot effectively operate as a sovereign nation; and,

WHEREAS, legal immigration is necessary and encouraged; and,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Kent County Republican Committee declares that the borders of our country must be secured to keep our country from being destroyed and becoming lawless; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that every elected Michigan Republican in Congress and the Michigan State Legislature be given a copy of this resolution in hope that the border enforcement issue will be their number one priority.

Adopted by the Kent County Republican Executive Committee on April 29, 2024.
