Official Call to the Kent County Republican Party Convention.  There shall be a meeting of the duly elected Precinct Delegates and the At-Large Delegates to the County Convention at 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, August 13th, 2026 at former Art Van Store on Alpine Avenue, 4273 Alpine Ave NW, Comstock Park, MI (Near Menards).  The purpose of this meeting shall be to elect Delegates and Alternates to the August 22, 2026, State Nominating Convention to be held at the Soaring Eagle Event Space in Mt. Pleasant, MI.  

 

Important – While all candidates for Precinct Delegate as well as candidates for state and county office will receive this notification, only those duly elected or nominated on the August 4th, 2026 primary ballot will be a seated delegate to the August 13, 2026 county convention.

 

The purpose of the State Convention is as follows: 

 

  1. The Nomination of:

                   

    1. One (1) Lieutenant Governor
    2. One (1) Secretary of State
    3. One (1) Attorney General
    4. Two (2) Justices to the Michigan Supreme Court
    5. Two (2) members of the State Board of Education
    6. Two (2) members each for the Wayne State University Board of Governors, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees, and the University of Michigan Board of Regents

 

2. The transaction of other such business as may properly come before the State Nominating Convention.

 

Precinct delegates and certain at-large delegates given the preference under Rule 8 of the Convention Rules, but who do not attend the County Convention, must notify the chair of the County Executive Committee (Rusty Richter) or the following designee(s) (Stuart Foster) in writing (the “Notification”) of the person’s intention to become a delegate or alternate delegate to the state convention.

The notification can be in any written form, including by letter or email, and must be received by the Chair of the County Executive Committee (or designee) by no later than 2 hours before the start of the County Convention. Failure to provide the notification as provided herein shall mean that the person shall not be given the preference under Rule 8 of the Convention Rules. It is not necessary to send a notification if a person attends the County Convention.   

 

ONLY Precinct Delegates elected at the August 4, 2026 Primary Election,  the most recent Republican nominees for County and State Legislative offices, incumbent members of Michigan Legislative offices, the Michigan Congressional Delegation, the Michigan Republican Party State Committee and Ex-Officio County Chairs where such person resides in the county in question will be seated and considered eligible to vote at this convention (See Rule 1A)
